The present research investigated the impact of exposure to the pollution generated by the "Police" Chemical Plant on the associations od Oribatida occurring in 20-year-old Scots-pine-forest soils. It was observed that the pollution decreased both the number of Oribatida species as well as the values of Shannon H and E indices. Out of the all the Oribatida investigated, the ones sensitive to the pollutants included Hemileius initialis, Oppiella nova and Suctobelba spp., while the others showed some tolerance, namely Adoristes ovatus, Chamobates schuetzi, Damaeus clavipes, Oribatula tibialis and Tectocepheus velatus
