A threshing machine consisting of two vertical pendulum motion plates working on the principle of pressing and twisting was constructed. The threshing machine was powered by an electric motor with the possibility to change the amplitude, frequency and phase of oscillation. The threshing machine was used to thresh seed maize ears. The achieved results showed the inappropriate moisture content for maize threshing was 30-40%. The optimum moisture content for threshing maize was 14%, which resulted in 2% grain damage and 16% unthreshed ears. This means that the jaws of the threshing machine did not meet expectation. The original intention was to use the threshing machine to thresh undried maize, thereby saving the energy required for drying. However this was not achieved
