In 1997 and 1998 years the six variants of nitrogen fertilization of spring barley during vegetation season have been observed in field experiments of beet cropping area. The influence of nitrogen application on yield formation have been evaluated and the most convenient way and term of nitrogen application have been searched for. Forecrop have been sugar beet. The four varieties of spring barley (Kompakt, Garant, Atribut and Expres) and three kinds of fertilizers (ammonium nitrate with lime-stone, DAM-390 and Fostim) have been compared. Nitrogen in every form have been applicated in dose 20 kg per hectare and in standard dose calculated on yield of 5 ton grain per hectare (based on content of mineral nitrogen in soil at the growing stage beginning of tillering). The results have shown decisive effect of year on formation all yield components and yield of grain of spring barley. Varieties Garant and Expres have achieved the highest yield of grain. Nitrogen application in form of DAM-390 at the end of tillering have had the highest yield effect
