We started a research on tolerance and dynamics of damage of young beech stands at two localities under a different pollution load (localities Kovacova and Ziar nad Hronom). We determined content of K, Ca, Mg, Mn and Zn in beech leaves. The research was carried out during three growing seasons of 1996, 1997, 1998. The results showed significantly increased values of Mn and Zn at pollution - damage zone (Ziar nad Hronom) compared to values of control locality (nonpollution load - Kovacova)
