Experimental plots of longan witches' broom were the farmers' orchards and located at Tombol Wang Pang, Amphor Pa Sang, Lumpoon Province, northern part of Thailand. Infected longans produced numerous new shot with shortened internodes, and most of those shoot failed to develop into mature branches. Flower stalks were abundant but maprity of the flowers dropped prematurely. The varieties of longan in these areas which presented the serious characteristic symptoms of witches' broom were E-dor and Beaw-keaw. Survey on disease severety was conducted on farmers' orchards along the Road number 1010 (Hangdoong-Jomthong-Banhong). The disease symptoms were found on E-dor. Beaw-keaw, Haaw and Chompoo varieties with the percentage of disease infection of 60-80, 40-60, 60 and 10 repectively. Seeds of disease infected trees and no-symptom trees were collected and planted. None to low percentage of seed germination was noticed from seeds of infected trees and 53.3-100 percent of seed germination from seeds of no-symptom trees after 3 weeks of planting. Young trees of all those seeds still show the healthy characters. Diseased samples were prepared for microscopic examination by DAPI technique and Electron microscopy technique, but technical problems was occured with the samples tissues. Black color and crack tissues of samples could not be proceosed in ultrathin section steps. Improvement of techniques is needed.
