A study on the adaptation and herbage yield of some important alfalfa varieties in arid condition of Van

This study was conducted from 1992 to 1994 for three years in arid-land conditions of Van. Fresh, dry herbage yield, and plant heights of 26 alfalfa varieties were investigated. Fresh herbage yields of varieties were determined between 2857.2kg/da and 4464.1 kg/da and their hay yields were found between 766.6 kg/da and 1143.5 kg/da. Ranger, X-1313, WL-202, X-1312, Uinta, and L-1971 varieties were found the best for herbage production. Also, these varieties had plant height between 99.9 cm and 108 cm
