Influence of water and sediment from shrimp farms on structure and growth of mangrove forest at Kung Krabaen Bay, Chanthaburi province by collecting of water and sediment samples from 3 canals dischanged from shrimp farms at the areas close to shrimp farms, mouth of canal, coastal area and inside forest at the margin, middle and inland area during high tide and low tide (only at the mouth of canal). The sediments were collected at the same area of water samples. Water samples were analized for physical and chemical properties such as temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, biochemical oxygen demand and soil properties were analized for texture, total nitrogen phosphorus, potassium, organic carbon. The amount and sediment properties show impacts on structure and growth of mangrove species particulaly decreasing number of species, changing of species zonation, decreasing of natural regeneration approximatly 20.5 percent of the total seedling density except stand density was insignificant. Regrading to growth rate, sedimentation can increase total height (more than 1 m/year) and diameter at breast height of mangrove species (0.4-0.8 cm/year). The influence of water quality on structure and growth rates of mangrove forest were not clearly observed due to only 1 year study and need to be longer investigated. The basic data from this investigation can be used for sustainable integrated management for shrimp farming and mangrove forest conservation in the future.
