Components of the tested herbal preparation were Folioum urticae, Fructus Silybii mariani and Exocarpus fagopyri. The preparation was added to feed as herb mixture at a dose 20 g daily per animal to 20 gilts and 15 sows (group E) housed in Bisprol farm. Control group (C) enclosed 15 gilts and 11 sows. In groups E and C three days before expected date of parturition, day of parturition and three days after parturition. The animals were clinically health before begining experiment. In both groups MMA syndrome was observed after parturition. Body temperature increasing in animals with following MMA syndrome has been seen in 24 h before parturition. Sows body temperature was higher than observed in gilts. Administration of the herbal preparation significantly decreased inner body temperature and attenuated MMA syndrome.
