Karyotypes of six Indian muntjacs (Muntiacus muntjak) and seven Fea's muntjacs (Muntiacus feae) kept in Dusit zoo are described. The chromosome number of female Indian muntjacs are found into 2 patterns as 2n=6 which are 2 metacentrics and 4 submetacentrics and 2n=7, comprised 6 submetacentrics and one acrocentric. The X chromosome is the p-arm of chromosome 3. There are also 2 karyotype patterns in the males as 2n=7, comprised 2 metacentrics, 3 submetacentrics, one acrocentric and a small submetacentric, which is the Y chromosome, and 2n=8 of which a minute metacentric chromosome is found in addition to the 2n=7 karyotype. That of female Fea's muntjac is 2n=13, composed of 3 submetacentrics and 10 acrocentrics. The X chromosome is the p-arm of chromosome 1. There are 3 patterns of male karyotypes as 2n=13, composed of 3 submetacentrics, 9 acrocentrics and a small submetacentric; 2n=14, composed of 2 submetacentrics, 11 acrocentrics and a small submetacentric c and 2n=15, composed of one submetacentric, 13 acrocentrics, and a small submetacentric. The Y chromosome is the small submetacentric.
