Reporting management of swine fever vaccination program in porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome infected herd

1200-sow farrow-to-finish herd had found high mortality rate on piglet and nursery in March, 1995. The clinical signs were found at first in nursery which showed coughing, respiratory distress, pina cyanosis. Some were found joint swelling and tremor with ataxia. Mortallity is 15-38 percent. Clinical sign of piglets were weak, disable to uptake colostrum, tremor, lethargy and death. Mortality is 25-52 percent. The sample from 14 pigs aged 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8 weeks were diagnosed as porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome by typical interstitial pneumonia lesion with PRRS isolation and lesion of swine fever was found with fluorescent antibody test suspection on 8-week pig. When the vaccination program of swine fever was changed from 1 and 2 week to the age of 3 week, the mortality decreased and no lesions of swine fever were found.
