Epidemiology studies on peanut bud necrosis virus of peanut

Epidemic of peanut bud necrosis virus on peanut had been evaluated in both farmer field and experimental station. Peanut cultivar Khon Kaen 60-1 was grown in dry season in 1993-94 and cultivars Khon Kaen 60-1, Khon Kaen 60-2 and Tainan 9 were grown in wet season 1994. Each experiment was conducted in insecticide application and non application fields. The disease outbreak was recorded every 2 week after the crop emergence until harvesting. In wet season, there was no disease symptom during the early stages of plant growth. The disease appeared after 8 week and it's spread relatively limited. Among peanut cultivars, the average of the disease incidence on Tainan 9, Khon Kaen 60-1 and Khon Kaen 60-2 were 4.42 percent (range 0-10.78 percent), 5.80 percent (range 1.17-11.32 percent) and 6.38 percent (range 2.55-10.44 percent) respectively. There was not significant difference between the disease infected plants from the insecticide application and non application fields. In dry season, the disease symptoms had shown in two weeks. The infections were rapidly increased and quite severe in later stages in both insecticide application and non application fields. In fact, the disease outbreak in non application plot was higher and showed statistical different from those in the application field. The ranges of disease incidence of the application and non application fields were 9.20-50.60 and 13.58-70.16 percent respectively. In the application field the disease incidence during 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 week were 0.84, 4.38, 10.75, 16.27, 18.79 and 19.61 percent respectively. Concurrently the incidences under in non insecticide field were 0.2, 7.77, 17.5, 24.30, 25.30, and 34.28 percent.
