Utilization of silk worm pupae and citric acid fermented by-product in growing-finishing pigs (30-90 kg)

Study on utilization of silk worm pupae and citric acid fermented by-product was conducted using 27 castrated males Large White weighed 30 kg. The animals were divided into 3 groups of 9 animal each. Each group of the animals randomly fed an experimental diet as followings until 90 kg body weight. Diet 1: corn-soybean meal-fish meal control diet; Diet 2: soybean meal and fish meal were replaced by silk worm pupae; Diet 3: Diet 2 but corn was replace by a combination of citric acid fermented by-product and cassava meal. Pigs on Diet 2 had a better ADG and FCR than those on Diet 1 but the different was not significant. But pigs on Diet 3 had significant poorer (P.05) performances than those on Diet 1 and 2. Carcass study have revealed no significant different among groups of the animals. Pigs on Diet 3 had the lowest cost of body weight gain.
