Vakarenko, O.H. (Schmalhauzen Inst. of Zoology, Kyiv (Ukraine))
As a result of the research work, the life cycle of the nematode Dichilonea rheae, a parasite of nandu (Rheae americana), under the conditions of the virgin steppe of Askaniya-Nova National park is revealed. The parasite's life cycle is deschifred, its intermediate and definitive hosts circle is determined. For the first time the ability for paratenic parasitism is revealed for Filariata. The structure of D. rheae's parasitic system in the conditions of the virgin steppe is studied. A complex of the ecological factors causing the stability of the system is examined
