Nitrogen nutrition efficiency of wheat as genotype characteristic

In three field and three pot experiments with different wheat cultivars nitrogen nutrition efficiency of wheat was studied. Efficiency of nitrogen nutrition (ENN) was analyzed particularly through indicators of accumulation (EAN) and utilization efficiency of nitrogen in plants (EUN) in yield formation. The results showed that same nitrogen nutrition efficiency i.e. same yield may be received as results of different value of accumulation and utilization of nitrogen in plant. Incorporation of maximal values of these indicators from different cultivars in new genotype provide further yield increase - higher than in parent with maximal yield. It is demonstrate that negative correlations between accumulation and utilization of nitrogen in plant is one of the essential problems of nitrogen nutrition efficiency.
