Cleaning system research in wheat combines

Air velocities were measured in a combine cleaning shoe above the upper chaffer. Here are given average air velocities estimated during investigation conducted in the two Yugoslav "Zmaj" combines Z-143 and Z-191 H, used for harvesting soybean. Fans for these cleaning systems are with one section, centrifugal with six rotary blades. Air velocities were measured above the upper sieve, and it was found that uniformity of flow was not satisfactory in the middle of the sieve, because of lower velocities. This might be the reason for inappropriate grain cleaning.
