The current data concerning pathogenesis of BVDV infection in cattle have been presented in the light of the knowledge of molecular biology of the Bovine pestivirus comparing with clinical and pathological occurrence of the disease in our farms. The publication illustrates the experience of the research group discovering the etiology of BVDV infection in "earlier" (acute) gastroenteritis in new-born calves as a result of intrauterine infection with DVD-virus. The real possibilities for control of the disease have been discussed on the basis of reducing the circulation of the BVDV in the herds and the possibilities for preventing the fatal intrauterine infections in pregnant cows with the virus.
