565 mares - daughters of 40 Czech Warmblood stallions were compared. Mares were described by the linear description method during their registration to the herd book at the age of 3 years. The basic body measurements, signs of body conformation, 4 summary characteristics and the total number of points for exterior were stated. The values were processed by BLUP animal model. The breeding value of stallions was estimated for the production type, limbs, quality of moving and total number of points for exterior. Stallions with the best results in total number of points for their exterior had also the best results in summary characteristics. The described method can lead to a better selection of horses and a higher selection gain.
