The paper deals with the analysis of different approaches for the assessment of competitiveness which are contained in about 20 scientific papers on the international conference in Halle 1998, the aim of which is to give to the term "competitiveness" the economic exactly measured content. The analysis has shown that only in about half of them some exact quantitative approach has been used.
