Strawberry varieties 'Jonsok' and 'Red Countlet' were intercropped with Allium sativum, Allium shoenoprasum, Allium fistulosum and Narcissus poeticus at the farm of Saaremae in the Southern-Estonia. The plantation was established in 1997. During the vegetation periods in 1998 and 1999 the carabids were caught with bifall traps in all test variants. The specimens of Pterostichus spp., Harpalus spp., and Amara spp. were dominating. The beds of 'Red Countlet' were preferred by carabids. There was no significant influence of the intercrops to the carabid abundance. Only on strawberry beds intercropped with Allium shoenoprasum the number of carabids decreased in comparison with other variants. Intercropping strawberries with Narcissus poeticus had tendency to influence positively on abundance of carabids
