Provoked trial with Starane 250 EC for weed control options in winter rape

As no product is available at the moment in Hungary for efficient bedstraw control in winter rape by in-crop application in spring, the herbicide Starane 250 EC (fluroxypyr-1-methylester) exhibiting excellent bedstraw control was involved in studies.The product was applied alone or in mixture with Lontrel 300 (3.6-dichloropicolinic acid) and Perenal (haloxyfop-r-methylester).During the trial susceptibility of winter rape was studied using different rates and times of application.Starane 250 EC was used at rates of 0.21;0.3;0.45;0.6 l/ha applied at rosette stage and stem elongation-beginning of flowering.Phytotoxicity on the crop was quantified.The trial was assessed one,three and four weeks after treatment.It was concluded that Starane 250 EC is recommended to apply only at 0.3 l/ha at rosette stage, later treatments had phytotoxic effect on the crop.
