Characteristics and evaluation of Hungarian mouflon management
2000
Nahlik, A.
Damages caused by World War II resulted in the reduction of Hungary's mouflon stocks to a few small-sized isolated populations. Introduction of newstocks was started in the late 1960s. In the 1970s areas suitable for mouflon keeping were pointed out and settling-down of populations was continued systematically at an accelerated rate. At the present time approximately 10,000 mouflons live in the 18-19 populations in Hungary. As compared to data form other countries, fecundity of this species is relatively high in our country (about 1.0), and among the progeny reared until autumn practically no losses occur.
