Age in days at 1st farrowing and measurement of reproductive performance of the first three farrowings in Hungarian Large White sows
1999
Csörnyei,Z. | Kovács,J.
The time when breeding is started determines the age of the first farrow of sows and influences the time of their further farrows. It also has a direct effect on the economy of sow production. In our study we dealt with the first three farrows of Hungarian Large White sows, including scrapping rates and their possible causes. We found that the reproduction results of the first three farrows developed according to the biological trend. There was no difference between the number of farrows in the number of sucking-aged deaths and the still-birth ratio.Within the single farrows the age of sows had no influence on the proliferation ratio. In most of the cases scrapping was caused by low proliferation.
