A review.Methods for in vitro maturation and in vitro fertilization of pig oocytes and in vitro development of pig embryos to the blastocyst stage are described.The problems of polyspermy and failure of male pronuclear formation and mechanisms that may facilitate successful fertilization and reduction of the number of spermatozoa at the site of fertilization are discussed.
