Conservation tillage is one of the soil management that can maintain soil fertile and sustain environment. The objective of the research is to determine the effect of soil tillage on yield and yield component of two cultivars of corn (Zea mays L). The research was conducted at Kebun Percobaan Politeknik Pertanian Universitas Lampung from December 1996 up to May 1997. The experiment used Randomized Block Design that was arranged in 3 x 2 factorial treatments with three replications. The treatment combinations consist of three soil tillage systems (T1 = intensive tillage; T2 = minimum tillage; T3 = no tillage) and two cultivars of corn (V1 = Pioneer-4: V2 = Bisma). The result of the research showed that soil tillage was significantly different on 100-seed weight, but it was not significantly different on cob length, cob diameter number of seed-line per cob, yield per cob and yield per hectare. There is an interaction between tillage system and cultivars of corn on 100-seed weight. The pioneer-4 had higher dry seed yield per hectare than Bisma had
