Fruit productivity and related plant characteristics of tomato [Lycopersicon esculentum] cultivars grown under low nitrogen application
2000
Matsunaga, H. (National Research Inst. of Vegetables, Ornamental Plants and Tea, Ano, Mie (Japan)) | Monma, S.
Growth and yield of tomato cultivars were compared under various nitrogen applications to identify high-yielding breeding materials and indicator characteristics related to high yield, under low nitrogen application. Varietal differences were observed in the yield and plant characteristics. 'Hayami' and 'Monte Carlo' showed the highest yield when grown under low nitrogen application. A positive relationship between fruit yield and leaf length or plant height was observed under low nitrogen application, indicating that these characteristics may be useful for selecting high-yielding plants
