Storage of fertilized eggs before incubation in chicken, 4: The effect of relative humidity on the hatchability of fertilized eggs

This experiment was conducted to examine the effect of relative humidity levels (90% vs. 70%) combined with lowering storage temperature treatment stepwise by every week on the hatchability of fertilized eggs. In this experiment, the fertilized eggs were stored for 2 and 3 weeks. Storage temperature was changed HC every week. The eggs were stored small-end-up position. Stored eggs were exposed at about 20 degrees C for 24 hours before the beginning of incubation. The following conclusions were obtained; 1) Relative humidity of 90% gave better hatchability and chicken activity than did the relative humidity of 70% for 2 or 3 weeks storage period. Hatchability decreased when fertilized eggs were stored at the relative humidity o9f 70% for 3 weeks storage period. 2) Mortality during early, mid and late embryonic development did not affect between the relative humidity levels (90% versus 70%) for 2 or 3 weeks storage period
