Effects of leaf number and leaf picking position on the vine in regards to fruit development and quality of melons were investigated in a standing vien culture that were grown in a plastic greenhouse. In order to ensure fruit development and high quality of the melons, 19 leaves (which were about 8,000 square-meter in total area) and 10 leaves (about 5,000 square-meter in the upper area than bearing node order) were needed. Leaf picking that were between the 21st and the 25th node order had the most important effect in regards to the development and the soluble solids (Brix) of the melons
