Clonal propagation of Agapanthus by floral tissue culture
1999
Kim, S.Y. | Kim, M.S. (Kyung Hee University, Yongin (Korea Republic). Department of Agronomy)
Clonal propagation of Agapanthus was achieved by in vitro culture using young flower bud with unopened bract. Shoots were developed from the receptacle tissue of flower bud including some florets in a modified Murashige-Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with 1 mg L-1 benzylaminopurine (BA). The basic medium consisted of MS major elements at a half strength with MS minor elements and vitamins at full strength, and 2% sucrose. Transferring the shoots to the basic medium supplemented with 1 to 10 mg L-1 BA induced adventitious shoots at their basal tissues. Trans-cinnamic acid alone was not effective, but was synergic with 1 mg L-1 BA for the induction of adventitious shoots. /
