A study on the function of wholesale markets and the possibility of an internet marketing

The purpose of this paper is to examine the function of wholesale markets and to propose a telecommunication bidding system using WWW (World Wide Web). Vegetables and fruits are distributed through the wholesale market system in Japan. That is the center of the business distribution and information for the marketing of the vegetables and fruits. In recent years, however, some issues are pointed out. The wholesale market system is based on a purely competitive market and there are some problems under the oligopoly of supply side and demand side. If we envision a news market system, however, we have to think about the multi-functionality of the wholesale markets. We proposed a new bidding system using CGI (Common Gateway Interface) on WWW. It was easy to construct an internet bidding system. The new market system by telecommunication will amplify the disparity between brand producing areas and non-brand producing area
