[Physical and chemical characteristics of drinking water in Preili district (Latvia)]

Physico-chemical parameters of drinking water in different places of Preili district were analysed and the possibilities to improve the quality of water were studied. In the experiments the following water characteristics were determined: turbidity, hardness, colour, ion content, pH, electroconductivity. The methods of analyses and the equipment used are described. The resulting data are discussed. The conclusion is drawn that the water quality can be improved by using KINWOOD filters and by connecting mechanical filters to water pipes.
