Fresh and decomposing leaves from four seagrass genera (Cymodocea, Enhalus, Holodule and Thalassia) were examined for the presence of dematiaceous Hyphomycetes. Eight out of 11 identified genera were Hyphomycetes namely, Aspergillus, Curvularia, Geotrichum, Paecilomyces, Penicillium, Cladosporium, Pestalotia and Trichoderma. These accounted for 79.03% of the total isolates. Other fungal species observed include representatives of Rhizopus, Neurospora and yeast which accounted for 3.83% of the total isolates while the rest of unidentified species accounted for 17.14%. The most abundant fungi observed was Aspergillus
