The three colleges that are involved in the offering of the farming systems education are the College of Agriculture, College of Economics and Management and College of Forestry. In addition to regular courses offered, the Farming Systems and Soil Resources Institute (FSSRI) and the Upland Agroforestry Program (UAP) under the Colleges of Agriculture and Forestry respectively, are carrying out farming systems research and extension programs. The FSSRI and UAP's training, research and extension activities are discussed in the paper. Also discussed are the logistic support, constraints and future programs for strengthening farming systems programs of the FSSRI and UAP. The paper raised observations on how the research and extension arms of the University should support instruction and suggested the need for further evaluation of the present farming systems education in the University based on its three functions. These observations are considered important in the strengthening of the University's current program on farming systems
