Induction of callogenesis in Gossypium hirsutum L.

In a comparative study different organs i.e., Embryo leaves, cotyledon leaf tissues and immature ovules of three varieties viz. Qalandri, Rehmani and CRIS-9 were cultured on M.S. medium with different concentrations of 2, 4-D, i.e., 2 mg/litre, 3 mg/litre and 4 mg/litre for induction of callus from Gossypium hirsutum L. Callus was induced in ovule cultures of all the three varieties and gave better performance on all the concentrations of 2, 4-D.
