Distributions of loads on the bottom and walls were determined experimentally in two flatbottomed silos of smooth and corrugated walls. The silos of 2.44 m diameter and 7.3 m high were centrally filled up with wheat grain and centrally and off-centre discharged. Considerable differences in loads observed during silo discharge resulted mostly from different frictional behaviour of grain on smooth and corrugated surface of galvanized steel. In case of smooth walls considerable load changes occurred at the beginning what was connected with smoothing wall surface; no similar effect was found at corrugated walls. Maximum moments bending the wall at asymmetric discharge in both silos occurred at outlet hole eccentricity ratio 0.67. In corrugated wall silo the resultant moments were approximately 3-times lower than in smooth walled bin
