Indices of the reproductive performance of reproduction sows under control in the Lublin region in 1998-99

An analysis of 6,161 liters obtained in 1998-99 after six reproduction breeds maintained in the Lublin region was made. It included the following traits: number of piglets born, number of piglets reared up to the 21st day of age, number at teats, age at the first farrowing and length of the farrowing interval. Sows were mated within the same breeds and between various breeds. LWP sows were characterized by the highest fertility. The highest calculated Eh indices as regards piglets born in the same litter were noted while mating Hampshire sows with Pietrain boars. A positive Eh index was found in litters originating from LWP sows mated with PL boars, and a negative one in those originating from Pulawska sows mated with PL boars
