Food of otter (Lutra lutra L.) on the territory of Polana

29 samples of otter droppings were analyzed. Droppings were collected near streams on the territory of Polana in 1996 and 1997. The samples were analyzed for the rests of pray by means of comparison scales. It was found a marked dominance of fish food. The frequency of its occurrence reached 99.6%. Frogs (Anura) reached high frequency of the occurrence in the food of otter, particularly 48.3%. Consumption of mammals (Mammalia) 13.8% and of birds (Aves) 3.4% can be considered occasional
