Sustainable development of Stara Planina tourist potentials from the aspect of landscape management

A significant tourist potential of Pirot region is Stara Planina Mts. with narrow valleys, rich forest complexes and forest meadows. These natural potentials were not sufficiently utilized to date, however, in the next period of development, they will be emphasized by the economic development based on market economy. This natural wealth must be conserved, protected, but also it must be utilized as a valuable tourist resource. To implement the concept of sustainable development, floristic research of Stara Planina was carried out from the aspect of application of autochthonous plant species for green areas for recreation
