Field experiment of Rayong province was conducted in order to study the effect of groundnut, using as green manure, and using of chemical NPK-fertilizer, on improvement the productivity of Huai Pong Soil series. After using the green manure the soil sample was collected and analyzed some physical and chemical properites and nutrient status. Maize was grown as the sequential crop in order to evaluate the soil productivity. The result can be concluded that Huai Pong soil was evaluated as low in productivity. Green manuring practice in this soil tends to improve soil properties in many way. In case of the physical property, improvement of bulk density and soil moisture content of field capacity was observed. In case of the chemical properties, increase in CEC and decrease in soil pH was detected. In case of nutrient status, content of organaic matter was slightly increased and total N was markedly increased whereas available P and extractable K tends to be increased. Growing maize in this soil after a year of green manuring, however, still be necessary to apply NPK chemical fertilizer in order to get desirable yield.
