This paper presents the study of basic hydrogeological properties of alluvial layers in which the significant alluvial spring was formed. This spring is used as a solution to the problem of municipal water supply of the towns in the Danube riparian area (Serbia, Yugoslavia). Ground waters which belong to this spring have immediate connection with the surface flow of the Danube and their quality is limited by the quality of the water from the Danube river. Therefore remarkable attention must be given to the protection of the water of this international flow so as to avoid degradation of ground waters the use of which is of importance for the population of the whole area.
