Effect of blue-green algae (Cyanophyta) on properties of different soil types of the Vojvodina Province [Serbia, Yugoslavia], morphological characteristics and yield of wheat
2001
Vasin, J.R.
It may be concluded on the basis of the obtained results that the blue-green algae did not have a pronounced effect on the water-physical and basic chemical properties of the soils. However, increases in the content of mineral nitrogen in all soil horizons and layers were observed. Soil inoculation with blue-green algae decreased the level of water-soluble salts in some horizons (Amo, p subhorizon in chernozem, Aoh, na/E horizon in solonetz and (B)v horizon in distric cambisol), electric conductivity in saturated water extract (Amo, p subhorizon in chernozem and Aoh, na/E horizon in solonetz) and the content of Na+ in water extract (Aoh, na/E horizon in solonetz). Inoculation with algae positively affected all morphological characteristics and yield components of winter wheat.
