In field trial the effect of sowing mode and variety of sorghum and Sudan grass on forage yield and yield components was conducted during two years (1997 and 1998). In two years average the highest annually forage yield has obtained with 25 cm row to row distance (76.7 t/ha), than with 50 cm (72.2 t/ha), sowing with paired rows (70.9 t/ha), 35 cm (68.0 t/ha), and the lowest with dense sowing on 15 cm (63.3 cm). The yield depends on growing conditions i.e. research year. High genetic potential of 88.3 t/ha from three cuttings, has expressed in second research year, while in previously year average yield was 43% lower. Sowing mode has affected investigated forage yield components, first of all number of shoot per plant and leaf contribution in dry matter production.
