A method for preparing of peptone, called Eladin, that could be used in the microbiological practice is described. The preparation was obtained by using an easily obtainable bacterial proteins and extracted calf skin as starting material. The product showed similar or better characteristics that the commonly used Casein Hydrolysate (Fluka) when used for cultivation of different microorganisms like Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeroginosa, Salmonella dublin, Staphylococcus aureus, etc. The method allows utilization of materials considered so far as waste products converting them in highly valuable materials necessary in the microbiology.
