Permittivity determination is on principle related to capacitance measurements. Following the analysis of the conducted theoretical investigations, the hypothesis that the seed permittivity with a variable electric field (having a frequency of up to 105 Hz) is not unlike the one under a constant electric field, can be accepted. This relieves the measurement of the capacitance of the place capacitor, used to determine the seed permittivity. On the basis of theoretical investigations were worked out a technique and an appliance for seed permittivity determination. To confirm the technique functional capability were carried out experiments making use maize seeds. The relative permittivity measured in those seeds turned out to be from 6.4 to 6.9.
