Data received show that the factors studied (forms, rates and ways of nitrogen fertilizer application exert certain influence on the carrot yields grown as first crop in compact vegetable crop rotation. The application of urea as nitrogen source has statistically proved higher effect compared to the ammonium nitrate. The split nitrogen fertilizer application contributes to the decreasing of the negative effect of the high fertilizer rates. From ecological point of view most favourable is the fertilization of rate, which is 50% lower than the optimal accepted rate. From this variant obtained production of carrots with nitrate content lower than the maximum permissible level. Nitrates content in the liquid soil phase and the mineral nitrogen of the arable soil layer is near the background values.
