[Importance of fat in animal feeding]

This review article summarizes results of experiments when diets with different lipids concentrations and quality were fed to swine, poultry and dairy cows. The lipid concentration in compound feeds for swine should not exceed 4 %, except the lipids of Aniveg type (till 6 %). It is important to maintain a good ratio between lysine and ME. The rules of feeding lipids to poultry are similar to those in swine. The lipid concentration in compound feeds for poultry varies between 1 and 6 %. The application of lipids in diets for cattle is more delicate as an excess of fat is nocious for rumen microorganisms. That is why lipid concentration in dietary dry matter should not exceed 5 %.
