Liming was a widely used ameliorative treatment in forestry, which importance is raising in recent years again. Tens of thousands of hectares were limed by the forest practice, only few research plots and experimerts are disposable despite this extension. Some of the oldest experiments are followed by the Forest Research Station Opocno in co-operation with the Faculty of Forestry in Prague. Research results document the effects and impacts of liming on the plantation growth and development, as well as on the dynamics of forest soils. Not only the favourable effects are observed, i.e. soil reaction, sorption complex and nutrient budgets corrections, but also the negative impacts: humus form and nitrogen cycles disturbance.
