The dynamics and rate of annual nitrogen net mineralization in a grey alder plantation were assessed in situ using the method of incubated polyethylene bags. Mineralization was assessed in the upper 10 cm soil layer. The intensity of nitrogen mineralization was the highest in May and September. Net nitrification formed the largest share in net mineralization. Annual net mineralization was estimated at 84 kg ha (-1), which accounted for approximately 37 per cent of the annual nitrogen requirement of vegetation.Among various environmental factors affecting mineralization, the pH played a significant role
