Practice and prospects of integrated pest management in greenhouse vegetables in Hungary
2001
Zentai, A.
Changeover to integrated pest management, on the one hand is a consumer's demand and on the other is a producer's expectation to succesfully solve plant protection problems. Characteristics of Hungarian greenhouse growing of vegetables make biological pest control more difficult, therefore it is necessary to include other physical and chemical plant protection elements in the pest management programme. The basis of plant protection is biological control, the use of which requires consideration of toxicity and persistence of the applied pesticides, climatic conditions and population density of the pests.
