Effects of environmental conditions on sensitivity of corn cultivars to herbicide treatments
2001
Molnar, I. | Toth, E. | Somlyay, I. | Pakurar, M.
More than 90 corn cultivars were tested from 1996 to 1999. Rimsulfuron, tiphensulfuron-metil and nicosulfuron based products were applied post-emergence on the cultivars at 2 stage of development. Cultivars reacted to the treatments regarding their genetical composition. Cultivars that genetically belong to sulfonilurea sensitive group showed severe visual phytotoxicity, and lost yield. The treatments applied at 6-7-leaf stage of cultivars caused more and severe visual phytotoxicity than same treatments applied at 4-leaf stage of cultivars. Cultivars showed wide range of reaction regarding to different active ingredients. Wide range of reactions were also observed regarding to different growth stage of cultivars as well as the effect of temperature to the manifestation of visual symptoms.
