The impact of deregulation on regional economy: a study case on the trade of some prime commodities in North Sulawesi (Indonesia)

The deregulation measures were based on the 1997 reform package and the January 1998 Letter of Intent agreement with the IMF. The 1997 reform reduced local taxes, while the January 1998 Letter of Intent to the IMF deregulated local trade in an effort to minimize monopolies, monopsonies and other undesirable trade practices which contributed to the "high cost" economy
